FLUX 2007 - A Student Story
So this is it. My day of FLUX has just begun. Picking up my name badge, blissfully unaware of the mirage of brainstorming sessions, expert meetings and presentations that await me, I enter the room where FLUX will commence.
A briefing followed soon after, illuminating a tantalising glimpse of the day's events. When the whistle blew, it all began; the noise of teams opening their briefing containing envelopes filled the room. Our team now highly focused began to form our strategy aided by the infamous Strategy board of the Xing training tool. A few brief expert meetings assisted in the revising of our strategy in preparation for the final presentation. In front of a team of dragons and a room filled with competitors all picking away at our plans we gave a passion powered presentation, the conclusion of a day that I'll never forget.
So that was it, my day of FLUX. An exhilarating Gregg's-powered day of business focused challenges created to bring out the entrepreneur in all of us.
Reflecting upon the experience the outcomes are positive and clear, FLUX offers the unique opportunity for all students to utilise enterprising skills in a competitive environment. I can use my FLUX experience as a clear example of when team working, communication, critical thinking and working under pressure were all abilities that I can summon when demanded of me. FLUX was everything I expected and more. The day was challenging, tiring, exciting, enjoyable and rewarding but in ways that I hadn't expected. I didn't realise just how fun it could be in the Dragon's Den, instead of just watching it! The dynamics of meeting team members on the day and the importance of having non-management studies students in the team was something that was more important than I anticipated. FLUX is another Jewel in my crowing CV that will lead to continued success and growing prospects for my future in the graduate job market.
