The University of Plymouth's role in FLUX 2009
The Working Knowledge Group has partnered with the University of Plymouth to host and help organise the National Final of FLUX 2009.
The university's role includes:
• Providing a venue
• Event management
• Event hospitality
• Raising sponsorship
• Helping to source business advisers
• The Enterprise Conference
As a competitor in the final, the University has no involvement in the delivery of the event, briefing the business advisers, judging or preparing the business scenarios. The scenarios are unveiled by the Working Knowledge Group at the event.
Having hosted the very successful National Final in 2008, the University of Plymouth is keen to help further expand this very important national event as a way of inspiring staff and students to be enterprising in their work and personal aspirations. It is also a part of the university pursuing its aim of becoming the enterprise university:
"Our aim is to become the enterprise university, truly "business-engaging" and delivering outstanding economic, social and cultural benefits from our intellectual capital. Pivotal in a city acknowledged as the enterprise capital of the south west".
Changes to the National Final 2009 include:
• the increase in teams in the final from ten to forty
• the addition of an Enterprise Conference for staff attending the event with their student teams
Working in partnership we aim to further build on this event in 2010.
