Rules of FLUX
Don't worry that some of these don't apply to you, we just have to make sure that they're available to you to keep our legal department happy :) .
Teams
• All teams need to have a 6 members at the Grand Final
• No more than 2 teams from a single institution
• Members can be under- or post- grad
• Members can be full- or part- time students
• No age limitations
• Intention is for teams not to be pre-established so that on the day team dynamics are part of the process
• Ideally not more than two team members from same course but on large courses will be down to institute to make appropriate decision
Champions
• Must be members of staff
• Role is as hands-off observer and organiser
• Needs to manage risk-assessment for their team/institution
• Are not allowed to influence team during the day
Judges and Assessment
• Judges as are far as possible not from, or connected with, any of the institutions participating on the day
• Judges are unbiased with regard to sex, race, accent or nationality
• Judges focused on evaluating the team and individual’s performance
• Assessment criteria to be communicated but not published to all participants
• Judges select the pitch off teams through their scoring
• The judges decision is final and disputes need to be brought up at the event where a meeting can be called
• Counting of the votes after the elevator pitch must be in the company of an independent adjudicator
• Experts votes hold 75%, and students and champions hold 25% of the overall vote score
Miscellaneous
• Internet access will be provided on both days of the Grand Final for research
• Powerpoint presentations are not to be used
